River Grove Public Library’s Gaming Blog

Gaming is going to be taking a break for the month of November.

We’re looking to do a complete relaunch in December with a lot of new and exciting changes. So keep stopping by the library to keep updated! (You’ve got a month to catch up on all that reading )

Fall is here, school is well underway…and so is Gaming!

There are usually about 20 Gamers with us on Thursdays and Fridays after school, have you stopped by yet? 

October 18th will be something super special for our older Gamers: Teen Hangout day!

Come for food, games, and friends from 12-3pm. Teens only! And all teens are welcome!

Good luck to everyone who just started school!

Next week starts our Fall schedule for gaming…which means Gaming will be Thursday 3:30-5:30 (for kids) and Friday 3:30-5:30 (for teens)!

Everyone is welcome to come to both days, but the games I have out will change depending on the day (for instance Halo will be out for teen gaming but not for kids gaming).

So if you need to unwind after school before starting your homework stop by

SATURDAY August 23rd, from 12-3pm we will be having our second DDR tournament!

Everyone is welcome to come, sign up is required so I know how many people will be there. But maybe I will allow drop-ins on the day of the tournament if we have enough room…

So come on! Put all that hard work practicing to good use

August is a pretty quiet month for the library…but never fear, gaming is still going on!

August is the last month for Open Gaming twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) then it will switch to a new school year schedule coming in September.

There will also be a DDR Tournament towards the end of August, and it will require a sign-up so look out for that coming up soon

Rock Band is totally awesome.

We had wonderful turnout on Saturday and everyone who wanted to got a chance to take Rock Band for a test drive. It won’t be out every Open Gaming day…but I am considering bringing it out once every other week or possibly just having special Rock Band Saturdays (because it is LOUD! and should be played loud ).

The brand new Guitar Hero guitars, however, are ready for some rockin’ and I am grateful to have them because the old ones just decided to give up on working.

Summer Reading has been going amazingly and River Grove Public Library will be having an End of Summer Reading Pizza Party to celebrate and reward all of your hard work! That will be Friday August 1st from 4-5:30pm. And you need to sign up for that so we know how much pizza to have ready!

THIS SATURDAY, July 19th, from 12-3pm we will behaving a Rock Star party of epic proportions!

Come play Guitar Hero, DDR, and our newest addition ROCK BAND for the Xbox 360.

We’ll be setting up Rock Band for the first time and I’m excited to see how it works. There’s a possibility in the future of letting bands form and hosting a Rock Band concert with all of you as the stars. But first let’s just enjoy Saturday

Sign-up isn’t required, this is for everyone to come and enjoy! Refreshments will be provided.

Saturday was a great time!
After a grueling hour and a half competition winners were chosen and trophies given out.

If you weren’t there, you totally missed out…but don’t worry! We have Open Gaming again this Thursday from 3:30-5:30.
Then starting next week the games will be out TWICE a week. So Tuesdays 1-4 and Thursdays 5-8 will be action packed!

Mario Kart Tournament!

6 people are signed up out of 24 spots, so if you show up I’ll have room up until those 18 slots fill up.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd get a trophy and a medal, 4th gets a medal! And they are some cool lookin’ trophies.

So, 12-3pm…be there or be square (and square is a bad thing to be )

Snacks and water will be provided for any onlookers cheering the contestants on!
